Accountant to the stars Anthony Bell buys a private jet
Accountant to the stars Anthony Bell has pulled the ultimate Sydney flex by splashing out on a private jet. But, he says, rather than it being about a ‘rich-boy toy’ purchase, it’s more about business than pleasure.
Anthony Bell has pulled the ultimate Sydney flex.
The accountant to the stars has joined the ranks of high-flying playboys like Justin Hemmes and James Packer and plonked down for his very own private jet – an eight-seater Citation 650, worth a cool $2 million.
However it wasn’t exactly a ‘rich-boy toy’ purchase.
Bell said he decided to acquire a jet to add to his super yacht charter business Ghost Charters, with the aircraft available to hire under the business name Ghost Air.
“It’s a purely for-profit business which I do occasionally use for personal trips but they’re rare,” says Bell, who divides his time between homes in Noosa and offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
“More than anything I use it for my mother who is elderly and can’t really fly commercial anymore. So occasionally I will fly her up to us or fly the kids to her.”
A trip from Sydney to Melbourne on Ghost Air currently sits at about $5000.
“Which actually makes good financial sense if you have a full flight,” Bell says.
“It works out to around $500 per person which is less than what it would cost to fly a commercial flight business class.”
