Using fresh store-bought pizza dough and loads of grated parmesan gives this American-style deep-dish pizza the perfect golden, cheesy crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup finely grated parmesan

  • 500g store-bought fresh pizza dough balls, at room temperature

  • ¼ cup tomato passata

  • 1 cup grated mozzarella

  • 200g sliced pepperoni

  • 4 piquillo peppers, halved

  • 2 tbsp chopped oregano, to serve

Method

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 220C fan-forced (240C conventional). Lightly grease and flour a 20cm heavy-based skillet. Sprinkle the base and sides with parmesan.

  2. Step 2

    Press the dough into the skillet, spread the top with passata, and sprinkle with mozzarella. Scatter with pepperoni and peppers.

  3. Step 3

    Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the dough has puffed up and cooked through and the cheese is melted and golden. Top with oregano and cut into wedges to serve.
