Wyndham Vale man charged over Werribee pursuit
A Wyndham Vale man allegedly flouted lockdown rules and led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car on Monday.

A Wyndham Vale man has been charged following a high-speed police chase allegedly involving a stolen car in Werribee on Monday night.
The 22-year-old was charged with carjacking, dangerous driving, reckless conduct endangering life, unlicensed driving, drug driving offences, drug possession, weapon offences, theft and unlawful assault.
Police found a Hyundai Elantra sedan, believed to be stolen, on Duncans Rd. Police said they tried to stop the car about 3.15pm but it took off.
Later that night police said a triple-0 called in a report of a “suspicious loiter” on Duncans Rd who was allegedly found with the stolen car about 9.20pm.
Sergeant Megan Stefanec said air wing was called when he ran from the scene.
“It’s alleged the man fled in the car and was pursued by police with assistance from the air wing through Point Cook and Laverton,” she said.
Police said he abandoned the car and ran into the back yard of a Duncans Rd house in Werribee.
Police allege the car was stolen in a carjacking incident on June 5 in Werribee.
The Wyndham Vale man was charged and issued with a penalty notice for being outside the 10km radius under CHO directions.
He will appear at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
