Kennett: The four big reasons to celebrate our nation
As the annual Australia Day debate ramps up, there are four basic answers to the question: What does Australia mean to me?
As the annual Australia Day debate ramps up, there are four basic answers to the question: What does Australia mean to me?
First it was Dan Andrews riding off into the sunset as the state faced economic hardship, now it’s Tim Pallas. We can only hope the premier is next in line.
Jacinta Allan can no longer simply be Dan Andrews’ puppet. Otherwise, we may need a Musk-like approach here in Victoria to address the generational legacy Labor is creating.
In two years, the Victorian public will decide with their vote whether the state is heading in the right direction or not. But here’s how we can start moving forward now to a brighter future.
Victorians must ask: Is our state is better or worse off than 10 years ago? Our debt levels will determine the quality of future — and it’s a massive challenge we must tackle now.
Victoria needs a very different approach to the leadership of our emergency services and the way the government treats offenders.
Our public school system is under huge pressure for staff, while the payroll tax for non-government schools is causing pain all round. Something is seriously wrong in the administration of education in Victoria.
Victoria’s health system is under increasing stress and most public hospitals are running at a financial loss, putting abnormal pressures on hospital administrators.
There have been no new annual events added to Victoria’s event calendar in the last 10 years. Relying on what we have achieved in the past is no recipe for the future.
You would need to leaf way back through the history books to find a government that has been as economically damaging as that of Andrews/Allan.
