DRAMATIC footage has emerged of the moment the deadly Bourke St rampage began to unfold.
The footage, obtained by the Herald Sun, shows a red car driving north on Swanston St, near the Town Hall, at the intersection of Little Collins St at 1.32pm last Friday.
Pedestrians turn to look as the car passes by on the road, before frighteningly veering onto the footpath outside the Gorman clothing shop.
People on the busy footpath run for their lives as the car, hazard lights flashing, heads towards Bourke St.
One pedestrian falls over and the red car swerves around them before wildly swinging into the intersection.
People are seen helping others to their feet.
The red car is followed on Swanston St by two unmarked police vehicles in the footage, with a marked Victoria Police car a few seconds behind them.
The red car allegedly went on to strike dozens of pedestrians, with five people losing their lives in the January 20 tragedy.
Several of those injured remain in hospital.
Dimitrious Gargasoulas, 26, of Windsor has been charged with five counts of murder.
