The tallest transportable ferris wheel in Australia has returned to the Fraser Coast.

The SkyLine ferris wheel proved to be wildly popular with locals and tourists alike when it came to Hervey Bay in 2019.

At the time, Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the wheel had recently been set up in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast where it proved a great drawcard for tourists and locals alike.

“We’re hoping it will be a similarly successful attraction on the Fraser Coast where it will provide fantastic 360 degree views of Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.”

This time instead of being set up at Pialba, it will find a new home at Torquay.

The attraction is Australia’s tallest transportable ferris wheel, standing at 35 metres high with 24 enclosed gondolas that can carry up to 144 people.

The ferris wheel will start operating on the Esplanade opposite Hervey Bay Sailing Club on Saturday, June 24 and will continue until November 5, 2023.

The attraction is transported on four semi-trailers and it takes 10 people, one crane and one telehandler three days to set up.

Tickets are free for children aged 2 or under, $10 for children or seniors, $15 for adults and about $50 for a gondola ride for six people.

Each ride lasts six to eight minutes with the wheel completing three full revolutions.

It will operate between 10am and 8.30pm daily.
