Alcohol a major problem for women in the workplace: Jenkins

The connection between alcohol, social networking and career progression in a “work hard, play hard” culture is both disadvantageous and dangerous for women, according to Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins.

Following the alleged rape of Coalition staffer Brittany Higgins in Parliament House, Ms Jenkins last year filed a report, based on contributions from 1700 individuals, which found more than half of parliamentary staffers had experienced at least one incident of bullying, sexual harassment or actual or attempted sexual assault at work.
