Nine years on, Continental Deli proves there really is no shelf-life when it comes to canned cocktails and tinned fish. Sure, you can order a full three-course meal here, but pulling up at the bar and starting with souvenir-grade specialty tins is a winning move.
Choose from smoked Cantabrian Nardin anchovies with a fistful of crisps, or the Galician Cuca sardines, delicately tiled with lemon segments on brioche finger toasts. There’s no ring-pull on the leeks vinaigrette, marinated in mustardy maple dressing and scattered with hazelnuts for crunch, or sweetly charred octopus with clean, crunchy daikon.
A “Mar-tinny” is mandatory, but afterwards, you’re free to explore the Euro-led wine list, which includes exclusive reserve drops to pair with your conservas.
Golden pastry and salted butter caramel make the tarte tatin essential – and if you feel like preserving the moment, canned “Neapoli-tin” ice-cream is a top-shelf pick to take away.
