Inflation set to ease, but it will be bumpy: survey
Pricing pressures in Australia are expected to ease this year as the economy slows and unemployment inevitably climbs, keeping the Reserve Bank on track to cut interest rates in the next 12 months.
Economists say a bumpy inflation trajectory won’t derail the RBA from eventually easing monetary policy, despite concerns Australia could experience a pickup in consumer prices similar to what the US suffered, which prompted traders to scale back rate expectations.
