Bar Nacional
Spanish$$
Bar Nacional is stage 1 in a plan to plant a bunch of distinguished cafes and restaurants in the Docklands’ hitherto infertile soil. Terrazzo floors, wine racks, leather armchairs and big windows create a warm, inviting mood – and that’s before you’ve even glanced at the list of charcuterie, tapas and raciones. It’s hitting the spot with workers from the surrounding cube farms, who swing by for a bocadillo (sandwich) and coffee or settle in for tapas such as soft-centred brussels sprouts croquettes, stonkingly rich morcilla (blood sausage), moreish spiced nuts and house-made sangria after work. Brilliant pastries, too.
