The Royston

Modern Australian$$

Behind the Royston's retro-'60s facade, punters get stuck into good pub tucker, matched by a tempting array of craft beers. Some of the gastropub mains push the budget, but classy entrees such as pan-fried scallops given a Japanese twist with bonito and soy or paprika-spiked albondigas (meatballs) make a great start. Then, perhaps a generous pair of beer-battered trevally fillets or a baba-ghanoush-smeared Moroccan chicken burger- both with seriously good hand-cut chips. Devoted locals pile in on Wednesdays for trivia- make sure you book.
