Bombay by Night takes Indian dining uptown with big art photos and bistro-style paper cloths over heavy napery. These will soon be colourfully daubed as you dig into shared platters of entrees with moreish tamarind sauce. The batata vada (a classic Mumbai street snack) is a spicy potato ball singing with subtle spice; the lentil batter of a cauliflower pakora is light and chewy as sponge cake. A dingri mutter (mushroom and pea curry) is refreshingly low on oil and has a clean red-chilli kick. Don't miss the exceptional kulfi, loaded with cardamom and pistachio.
