The right to disconnect comes into effect on Monday for all businesses with 15 or more employees. Contrary to what some people think, it does not mean a blanket ban on employers contacting their staff after hours.
Instead, rules under the new legislation give employees the right to ignore their bosses and clients during these times, unless doing so is unreasonable. The tricky part is, that no one is 100 per cent clear about what unreasonable means in this context.
