Now, here are two things that are nice to hear when you’re sitting down for lunch: “We can open any wine you like from the bottle shop”, and “a kumquat frangipane tart has just come out of the oven.” P&V’s wildflower-lined courtyard is a feel-good hit on a warm afternoon, whether you’re keen to simply sit on a glass of something chilled and red, or lock in for a longer session with the menu, still evolving (as we go to print) under new chef Leila Khazma. Snacks and share plates could include fresh anchovy and broad bean pilaf; sea bream crudo on a bed of green harissa; lamb neck salad; mussels and spigarello on toast; and spiced Persian red lentils cooked in burnt-onion broth. The floor team is fun and informed and the playlist is anything goes. If you’ve ever wanted to eat oeufs mayonnaise while listening to Deep Purple’s Space Truckin’, this is the place.
