Glam hotel dining in Newcastle’s revitalised east end.

A relaxed but ritzy dining room. Skilled chefs on the pans. Designer rooms where you can retire for a nap post-lunch. Could this be Newcastle’s best hotel restaurant? Yes. Definitely. By a considerable margin.
Tucked into the swanky QT Hotel, layers of luxury extend from the lavish furnishngs and artworks to an innovative menu upgrading grillhouse classics with pickles, ferments and creative flourishes.
Recent highlights have included properly sharp beef tartare topped with crisp-fried enoki, deftly barbecued whole grouper invigorated with burnt tomato dressing, and silky sweet-corn filled cappellacci pasta parcels in rich taleggio sauce (not to mention an impressive range of dry-aged steaks and super crunchy duck-fat potatoes).
With chef Ryan Crothers recently taking over pans, Jana is in a small state of flux as we go to print, but with such solid foundations, we’re confident it’s still one to recommend.
