The Mounted Police unit has been sent out to Karama as a measure of reassurance for the public after a man was fatally stabbed in the suburb on Wednesday.
NT Police Detective Senior Sergeant Jakson Evans said having extra police on the ground was normal in light of the events.
“It’s not uncommon to deploy police … to reassure the community that we are out there,” he said.
“It is a terrible incident or occur in Karama, and two stabbings on the same night in separate locations is very serious.
“So we just wanted to reassure the community that we are out there and that they are present.”
The fatal stabbing is the latest in a spate of crime and anti-social incidents in Karama, which have been in the spotlight for months.

NT Police Commander Matthew Hollamby told the NT News earlier this month that police would act swiftly if issues in the suburb spiked again.
The incident comes after a 17-year-old teenage boy was allegedly stabbed in the back at a home on Sege Crt in March.
A 19-year-old was arrested for questioning over the alleged incident.
Further, a 21-year-old man faced court in March for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old child as they played in their Karama front yard.
Just two weeks later, a local nail salon business was forced to close and provide their services to vulnerable clients in their homes after youths took over the store and raided the shop front for cash.
The incident sparked public outcry for local MLA Ngaree Ah Kit to do more about out-of-control crime in her electorate.
In a radio interview about two weeks later, Ms Ah Kit said “hundreds and hundreds of visitors” to her electorate had led to the spike in crime and anti-social behaviour.
“We’ve just had an influx of a lot more people making really bad decisions with their behaviour impacting on others,” she said on Mix 104.9FM
“The majority of people who are here visiting are here for the right reasons … it’s just a small cohort of them who often get intoxicated and run amok.”
Ms Ah Kitt said she was saddened to learn of the man’s death.
“Like the community I represent, I’m deeply shocked and saddened by the reports of a violent incident and the loss of a young life in Karama this morning,” she said.
