NT Police have arrested and charged a man who allegedly unlawfully entered a Larapinta home and stabbed a woman multiple times on Tuesday night.

Police say the 38-year-old man fled the scene following the alleged domestic violence incident, prompting them to call on the public for assistance to locate him.

The man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and has since been charged with engaging in conduct that contravenes a domestic violence order, aggravated unlawful entry, aggravated assault and being armed with an offensive weapon at night.

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.

The 41-year-old woman was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital with injuries to her upper body, which are not considered life threatening.

No one else was physically injured in the incident.
