Glassed in the face at the pokies, run over with a car on a busy pub’s street or stomped in the head by a man in high heels — these were just some of the 20 wild incidents at pubs across Queensland in the last year.

These 20 men and women faced courts across regional and southeast Queensland including Gympie, the Sunshine Coast, Logan, Ipswich and Gladstone.

Some defendants were sentenced to jail time or fined thousands of dollars.

Queensland Police initiated the alcohol-fuelled violence policy in 2016, which aimed to reduce public violence around drinking, centred on young people.

According to Queensland Police, they decreased serious assaults by almost 50 per cent between 3am and 6am on Friday and Saturday nights in the state from 2016 to 2019.

Public violence around alcohol however still remains a persistent problem in the state and is reflected in the courts.
