We all have a mum, but not all of them end up convicted of a crime.

From drinking, drugs, fraud, arson, theft and burglary, the mothers below have found themselves in a Central Queensland court in 2023 for different offences.

ARSON

SKY LOUISE GEEHOY, 25

Geehoy, a mother of two, was living in a Department of Housing residence on Hospital Road, Emerald, when she set fire to her home.

The fire, which was lit on June 13, 2021, totally destroyed the structure, causing $221,953.80 in damages.

Geehoy pleaded guilty in Emerald District Court to one count of arson and was sentenced to three years’ prison.

NIKOLA RAINE BENSON, 24

Benson, a young mother, punched a woman in the head on March 2 about 5.50pm after she allegedly trashed her house and stole $170 worth of clothes from TK Maxx in Stockland Rockhampton Shopping Centre on February 18.

She pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 28 to one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and stealing.

Magistrate Cameron Press sentenced Benson to nine months prison with immediate parole.

BURGLARY

NARNEISA ANNE CAITLYN ROSS, 28

Ross, a mother of four, broke into people’s homes who were asleep, was frequently found in possession of other people’s identity cards and bank cards and was seen breaking into people’s letter boxes and taking their mail.

She pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 31 to more than 40 charges, including two counts of entering a dwelling with intent by break at night.

She was sentenced to 21 months’ prison, with parole release on June 28, 2023 and 93 days of pre-sentence custody declared as time already served.

She was also disqualified from driving for one month.

DRUG OFFENDERS

SKYE ALISHA ELLIOTT, 26

Elliott, a mother of two, was caught with LSD, $2300 cash, more than 180g of marijuana and other drug related items when police searched a home in Rockhampton on September 13 about 11.45am.

She pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 28 to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing tainted property, possessing utensils or pipes that had been used and possessing anything used in the commission of crime defined in Part 2.

She was ordered to probation for two years with criminal convictions recorded.

Vassallo, a mother of two, attempted to bring a package containing 1.362g of meth, 75 buprenorphine strips and a syringe into Capricornia Correctional Centre on September 16, 2022 when visiting Josiah Isaiah Simon Tapim, 23, who was in prison.

She pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Supreme Court on October 4 to one count each of supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils or pipes that had been used, contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically and taking or attempting to take a prohibited thing into a corrective services facility.

Justice Graeme Crow sentenced Vassallo to two years prison, wholly suspended for two years.

Moore, a mother of three, was found in possession of methamphetamine, suspected stolen clothing and refused to give police access to her electronic devices during a drug raid at a Gladstone home on October 26, 2022.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on September 27 to numerous charges, including possessing dangerous drugs, possession of suspected stolen property.

The two most serious offences related to not giving police access to information stored electronically.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Moore to nine months prison, wholly suspended for 18 months.

Convictions were recorded.

Fermor, a single mother of three, made two drug drops to the Rockhampton Hospital where she was told to leave parcels containing buprenorphine strips, tobacco and needles in a toilet before a Capricornia Correctional Centre prisoner would be ‘tasked’ to pick up them up.

She pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court on June 20 to two counts of supplying a dangerous drug to a prisoner and was sentenced to 12 months prison, wholly suspended and operational for two years.

JACINTA MAREE PEARSON, 37

Pearson, a mother of four, trafficked drugs at a street level to about 40 customers between December 25, 2021, and April 5, 2022.

Between Australia Day and March 5, 2022, Pearson made 23 supplies with the total weights of drugs supplied being 59.95g of meth and 301g of marijuana.

Pearson was busted possessing six bags of meth, with a total weight of 38.323g of meth in 54.282g of substance, as well as $6860 cash and drug utensils, when police attended a Berserker residence on February 11, 2022.

Two months later, police found her in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the driveway of a Nobbs Street residence in possession of 3.213g of meth in 5.33g of substance.

She pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking drugs, two counts of possessing more than two grams of a schedule one drug, and one count each of possessing a thing used to traffick drugs, possessing drugs, possessing drug utensils, obstructing police, assaulting police, possessing tainted property and possessing property suspected used in a drug offence.

She was sentenced to three years prison with 260 days presentence custody declared as time already served and released immediately on parole.

Serio, a mother, trafficked methamphetamine across the Rockhampton region between November 20, 2020 and February 1, 2021.

She also supplied drugs four times, including the preparation to supply MDMA, an unknown amount of marijuana for $17,000, 3.5g of meth, and another unknown quantity of meth.

She pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Supreme Court on April 20 for trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing a thing used in connection with trafficking dangerous drugs, contravening order about device information from digital device, possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

Chief Justice Helen Bowskill sentenced Serio to three years jail with immediate parole and declared 129 days of pre-sentence custody as time already served.

TRACEY ANN PETERS, 55

Peters, a mother and grandmother, was caught with 98g of marijuana and other items in the Gladstone region in May 2022.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 15 to possessing cannabis, drug utensils and restricted medicines, as well as property used in a drug offence.

She was sentenced to one month prison, wholly suspended for an operational period of 12 months.

Convictions were recorded.

Sweetland, a young mother, supplied 1.75g of methamphetamine to a person for an unknown price and did things in preparation for selling a “half ball” for $750.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone District Court on February 27 to two counts of supplying meth, possessing drug utensils, and contravening an order (in relation to her phone).

She was sentenced to nine months prison with immediate parole.

STEALING

BRIANNA TILLEY, 26

Tilley, a Gladstone mother, stole 11 USB cards worth $539 from Big W on January 10.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on April 5 to stealing.

She was sentenced to one month prison, wholly suspended for an operational period of nine months, and ordered to pay $539 restitution with convictions recorded.
