Moranbah mum Tiarne Carmen Peta Fermor supplied drugs to prisoner

She was convinced by a former partner to be a drug mule, dropping drug parcels in a public location to be picked up by a third party. But here is how it all came undone.

A single mother-of-three who works two jobs to support her children was convinced by her now former partner to supply him drugs, tobacco and syringes while he was remanded in prison, a court heard.

Tiarne Carmen Peta Fermor, 25, made two drug drops to the Rockhampton Hospital where she was told to leave the parcels in a toilet a court heard before another Capricornia Correctional Centre prisoner would be ‘tasked’ to pick up them up.

Crown prosecutor Luke Smoothy told Rockhampton District Court Fermor was instructed by the prisoner on how to wrap the parcels containing buprenorphine strips, tobacco and needles.

The drug drops took place two days apart with the prisoner not happy as some of the drugs were “crushed”.

Phone intercepts revealed the first parcel was delivered successfully but the second one could not be found by the prisoner in the toilet.

Defence barrister Scott Lynch said his client had moved to Moranbah with her children and worked two jobs – cleaning at the mines and as a weighbridge operator at a quarry – and did not receive any child support payments.

The court heard Fermor gave birth to her oldest child when she was 15.

She was supported in court by her parents.

Judge Jeff Clarke said Fermor showed she had “drive” through her employment and parenting responsibilities.

She pleaded guilty on June 20 to two counts of supplying a dangerous drug to a prisoner and was sentenced to 12 months prison, wholly suspended and operational for two years.
