A Gladstone region grandmother has been given a jail sentence for her latest drug offending.

Tracey Ann Peters, 55, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 15 to possessing cannabis, drug utensils and restricted medicines, as well as property used in a drug offence.

The court heard police found Peters with 98g of cannabis and the other items in the Gladstone region in May last year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tanya Griffiths said Peters had a five-page criminal history predominantly consisting of drug offending.

Peters was sentenced in the District Court at Gladstone in November last year for drug offences including possession and supply, for which she got 18 months’ jail with immediate parole.

“These offences before the court (on March 15, 2023) occurred after she was on bail for the offences (which were) dealt with in the District Court,” Sgt Griffiths said.

A solicitor said Peters was having ongoing medical appointments in relation to heart issues and she had an operation scheduled.

The solicitor said Peters, a mother and grandmother, had previously suffered from a drug addiction and was now prescribed medicinal cannabis.

Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Peters to one month jail, wholly suspended for an operational period of 12 months.

Convictions were recorded.
