A raised middle finger posted on social media, excessive drinking and allegations of intellectual property theft are at the centre of a legal battle to clawback a $1.3 million bonus paid to the former head of Asia at Treasury Wine Estates.

While the action brought against star salesman Peter Dixon is being viewed as a test case for executive remuneration, it also has the potential to open old wounds at the maker of Penfolds and Wolf Blass.
