The restaurant and catering industry group fronted by celebrity chef Neil Perry says low-paid workers should not be rewarded with minimum wage rises above inflation because labour productivity is too low.

Instead, the Australian Restaurant and Cafe Association argues the projected rate of inflation should act as a ceiling on minimum wage rises awarded by the industrial umpire.
