Mining and mid-cap companies continue to flout the rules on shareholder voting, disregarding large protest votes to wave through executive bonuses.

The focus on voting governance comes amid an investor backlash with first "strikes" against companies' remuneration reports – a protest vote of 25 per cent or more – rising from 93 to 101 this year, including four top 100 companies: Ausnet, Ansell, ALS and Downer EDI.
