When looking at the relative performance of your superannuation fund for the year, there are a number of important “tricks” to be aware of to ensure you are comparing the right numbers.
As the Australian Securities and Investments Commission identified recently in taking action against one of Australia’s largest super funds for publishing misleading performance data, historical performance numbers can tell a number of different stories. Being able to compare performance is also particularly important for self-managed super fund members given they can sometimes operate in a bit of vacuum when it comes to investment return comparisons.
