The depreciation of the Australian dollar provided a strong tailwind for superannuation funds in the last financial year, helping 20 growth options deliver returns equal to or above the one-year median of 10.4 per cent.

The chief investment officers of some of Australia’s largest super funds say positive returns from all asset classes helped buoy results, but they add that active management and stock selection may play a bigger role in this financial year.
