A 74-year-old woman had her bank account drained by scammers who impersonated telephone technicians from NBN Co to access her laptop, mobile and tablet computer, the latest in a spate of thefts totalling millions of dollars.

Banks and network providers are repeating warnings about the vulnerability of their systems to potential theft and the importance of not providing any personal financial details or access codes to people claiming to be from their organisations.
