Former top Reserve Bank economist Luci Ellis says the RBA may be forced to raise the cash rate several times if inflation stays strong, as she hosed down concerns a looming overhaul of the central bank could weaken governor Michele Bullock’s authority.
Dr Ellis last month became the first female chief economist of a big-four bank, leaving the RBA after 32 years to succeed Westpac’s high-profile chief economist Bill Evans.
