London | Eurozone inflation might yet subside to manageable levels, European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde said on Monday (Tuesday AEDT), as she tempered the hawkish line from last week that fuelled speculation of imminent interest rate increases.
Although “risks to inflation are tilted to the upside, particularly in the near term”, there were still signs that the rate could return to the ECB’s 2 per cent target by next year, Ms Lagarde told a European Parliament committee.
