In the coming decade, Nick Venter wants to own 10 farms close to the nation’s most populated areas and give 70pc of Australians the opportunity to access food direct from a farm.
It’s a mild Thursday in late autumn and Sydney’s Double Bay is bustling; the weekly produce market and a break in the weather have drawn people out. At Neil Perry’s wildly popular restaurant, Margaret, there’s barely a vacant table.
Nick Venter, founder of CopperTree Farms, which supplies Perry with his meat and butter, is settled in a window seat with Gus De Muelenaere, one of his two new business partners.
