Square to roll out generative AI to help drive retail sales

Payments and business software provider Square will put generative artificial intelligence into the hands of its merchant customers this year, allowing small businesses to use its data to determine what products are top sellers and which employees are the most productive.

For example, a café signed up to Square could type into the system a simple question, such as, “How many cups of coffee have I sold on a Tuesday over the past 7 weeks”, and see the exact numbers plotted on a graphic using actual data generated from the payments system.
