A vile predator who offered money to sexually abuse an eight-year-old child in a hotel room has denied having pedophilic desires.
Bradley Andrew Richardson, 36, of Eudunda in SA’s Mid-North, could be out of jail in as little as four months after attempting to arrange a threesome between a mother and her daughter.
During sentencing, the District Court heard Richardson was communicating with an undercover police officer in June 2020 who had placed an advertisement on the online classifieds website, Locanto.
The court heard the police officer purported to be a 37-year-old female residing in Woodville.
“The advertisement created by the operative was titled, ‘Lifes Taboo Short’ and read ‘37 Real Female into taboo. Love Family’,” Judge Jane Schammer said.
Richardson messaged the police officer and asked “Hey Babe, want to play, can I f*** you and your daughter”.
Two days later Richardson asked to have a threesome with the woman and her eight-year-old daughter.
“You offered to book a hotel room to enable these acts to occur and to give the operative $200 and the daughter $100 to engage in these acts,” Judge Schammer said.
“You agreed that it would be good to film the acts and said to the operative that you could sell pornography together.”
Richardson sent photos and videos to the undercover officer that identified him and he was later arrested.
Richardson pleaded guilty to one count of communicating with the intention of procuring a child to engage in or submit to sexual activity.
“Had you in fact been communicating with a genuine 37-year-old female with an eight-year-old daughter and gone through with what was intended, this would have resulted in the horrific abuse of a young girl, affecting her for the rest of her life,” Judge Jane Schammer
The court heard Richardson suffered a shocking workplace accident in 2018 where he was electrocuted and had both his legs amputated.
“You explained that you did so (the offending) because you were lonely and the horrific physical injuries you had sustained had left you physically deformed and feeling as if you were a freak,” Judge Schammer said.
The court heard Richardson denied having any pedophilic proclivities but a psychologist found the offending was clearly sexually motivated.
Judge Schammer said she was concerned Richardson was yet to accept he had a sexual interest in young children and hadn’t taken any steps to seek treatment.
“This type of offending poses a significant danger to children, particularly having regard to the anonymity that can be afforded to predators who use social media to commit such offences,” she said.
“Although no child was in fact harmed by your offending, the impact of this offending on undercover operatives and the fact that police resources are and continue to be required to protect children from this behaviour, cannot be overlooked.”
She sentenced Richardson to one year and one month jail, with a non-parole period of four months.
