A real estate agent will have to temporarily close one of his stores in a Sunshine Coast hinterland town after a small truck crashed into shops on Wednesday night.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters received a call about 11.10pm to reports of a two-vehicle crash in Kenilworth.
He said a crew arrived at Elizabeth St and found a small truck had crashed into the shops leaving the building’s structure “severely” compromised.
Paramedics were on scene but were not required to treat anyone.
The fire crew remained at the incident until about 3.30am when the truck was removed.
The Sunshine Coast Council was also onsite to assess the damage.
Photos on social media showed a truck wedged underneath the awning of the shops with severe damage to the front of a real estate agency and a doctor’s surgery.
Ron Jeffery, the principal of Ron Jeffery Realty, said the incident could not have come at a worse time of year and he would close his Kenilworth agency until it was repaired.
He said the business had two other offices, in Imbil and Montville, and staff would operate out of those instead.

“Our sales staff really can operate out of any of the offices and they do, and my reception person from Kenilworth has other internal responsibilities,” Mr Jeffery said.
“For the general public there’s no interruption to our business.”
