An aspiring paramedic was caught driving more than four times over the alcohol limit shortly before she undressed herself in a drunken stupor.
Sophie Helen Williams, 32, pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 8 to one count of driving under the influence of liquor.
The court heard Williams was driving a car from David Low Way, Bli Bli, onto the Sunshine Motorway about 10pm on March 24.
Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said she had been swerving across lanes and driving dangerously, which was recorded by a witness.
He told the court Williams was signalled by the witness to pull over, who then took her keys from her and called police.
Upon their arrival, police tested Williams, who blew .202, and observed her to be unsteady on her feet and slurring her words, the court heard.
Sergeant Nitschke said she was taken to Maroochydore Police Station where she undressed herself completely despite officers’ directions not to do so.
She soon followed instructions and redressed herself.
Defence lawyer Madalyn Olivero told the court her client had received upsetting news on the day of the offending, which led to her “spiralling”.
She explained Williams visited a friend and drank alcohol, ultimately leading to the offence.
Ms Olivero said it was out of character for the 32-year-old woman, who currently holds a Bachelor in Business and hopes to pursue a paramedics course.
She was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for eight months.
A conviction was not recorded.
