Miznon
Backstreet falafel joint with a cheffy touch.

A Collingwood corner building recently became home to the second Melbourne location of this street-food hotspot. There’s tea and roasted chestnuts on arrival but the minimal, slightly industrial fitout keeps the mood as casual as the popular pitas, which come served in paper bags regardless of whether you’re dining in or out.
Your fluffy-but-structural pocket comes crammed with falafel, minute steak, battered fish or rotisserie chicken. Each one sings with various combinations of tahini, chilli and herbs. The famed “bag of green beans” is a jumble of glossy snake beans, snowpeas, sugar snaps and green beans generously seasoned with garlic, lemon and salt.
A bowl of chickpeas musabaha is lush with tahini, shredded egg, chilli and fresh tomato. When the weather’s warm and the windows are wound back, crowds pile in. Fast, fresh and wallet-friendly.
Also in the CBD on Hardware Lane.
