Mustang
Nepalese$$
Mustang is doing its bit to switch Sydney’s many Indian food fanatics onto lesser-known cuisine from neighbouring Nepal. Named for a region in northern Nepal, it wins fans with entrees such as momo (dumplings), golden fried aloo chop (potato cakes), tender lamb cutlets, and chicken chhwela, which pairs marinated chicken pieces with the crunch of rice flakes. Tarai fish curry is not as fiery as the menu suggests, but its lemony tang works well with the delicate pieces of fish, while Mustang lamb delivers tender meat in a complex, layered sauce. Service is prompt and polite, and there’s even a banquet for just under $30.
