Dan MacPherson has opened up about his new relationship, praising partner Jessica Dover as a strong and wonderful human.
The acclaimed actor, who is in Melbourne to star in West End hit, 2:22 – A Ghost Story, at Her Majesty’s Theatre from next month, has recently been by the side of model and influencer Dover after the passing of her mother with cancer.
“She is an incredibly strong, wonderful human being surrounded by a great extended family and a lot of friends,’’ MacPherson said.
“They’re doing as well as they can be.
“I’m just glad I could be there for her in a challenging time.”
MacPherson co-parents his three-year-old son Austin with ex-wife and fellow actor Zoe Ventoura. Dover also has a young son.
“That’s part of modern parenting, Austin’s mum’s got a wonderful career and he’s fantastic, he’s got swimming and gym class and we’re fitting all that in,’’ MacPherson said.
“Jess has got her world and her son and as long as your kids are happy and smiling the rest you kind of work out. We’re all doing something right.
“Once you become a parent you couldn’t date anyone that wasn’t a parent, it changes everything. We’re going very nicely, even through some challenging times and ultimately she’s just a wonderful human.”
MacPherson is starring in 2:22 – A Ghost Story alongside Ruby Rose, Gemma Ward and Remy Hii.
He credits abstaining from alcohol since November for a recent career surge.
He’s shot US action feature Land of Bad alongside Liam Hemsworth, recently The Beast in Me playing a retired MMA fighter and is also furthering his producing and directing interests.
“I stopped drinking in November and the productivity that’s comes with that has just gone through the roof,’’ MacPherson said.
“Just in all areas of my life, from relationships to work and everything, it’s improved. The output is huge.
“(Ghost Story) is a really interesting group of personalities and it’s a really well written, really tight, clever, thought provoking script and I get to come to Melbourne for two months through Winter. On a cold Melbourne winter’s night, it’s a perfect show.”
2:22 – A Ghost Story, will play at Her Majesty’s Theatre from July 25 for four weeks.
