Hospitality identity and Australia’s most infamous football supporter Hayden Burbank is selling his Chapel St bar Morris Jones.
Burbank, who opened the venue in 2011, said it was the right time to move on.
“I’ve loved my time at Morris Jones and the passion still burns deeply, but personally I feel now is the right time for me to hand over the baton and let someone else take over the reins and allow me to move on with a new challenge,’’ Burbank said.
“I’ve got some other exciting opportunities that I’ve had sitting on the backburner for some time now that I’d like to get my teeth stuck into, which will take my full focus.
“I take great pride in knowing that 12 years ago I, with Morris Jones, helped shape Windsor into the vibrant and exciting hospitality scene it now is, and I look forward to the next operator having the same enthusiasm and passion for hospitality and take over from where I left off.”
Over the years, Morris Jones has been a celebrity favourite with names including Rebel Wilson, Kelly Rowland, Usain Bolt, Adrian Grenier, Niall Horan and Brian Lara all visiting the venue.
Locally it’s been a destination for footballers, socialites and reality TV stars.
The site features a fully equipped commercial kitchen, high-end fit-out with multiple dining and function spaces, along with a 1am ‘On-Premises’ liquor licence with a 280-person capacity.
In April, he closed the bar temporarily to make way for a dramatic transformation – a facelift he described as a subtropical oasis.
Its trademark flower wall and floral chandeliers were dumped in favour of bespoke murals, ferns and palms and green dominating the interiors.
Burbank also shook up the menu with new head chef Yang Zhao offering a Californian Japanese cuisine.
Burbank has engaged JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group’s Will Connolly and Lachlan Persley to take it to market.
The Leasehold Interest in Morris Jones, Windsor, is available via expressions of interest closing at 5pm on July 12.
Diehard Melbourne fan Burbank was jailed in West Australia in 2021 after breaching Covid laws by sneaking into the state while it was in lockdown to watch his beloved team win the premiership.
He spent three months in the maximum security Hakea Prison in Perth.
