Childcare centre operators warn a union push for collective deals rather than individual agreements could delay the rollout of pay rises worth $3.6 billion to hundreds of thousands of childhood educators due to start in days.

The United Workers Union is fighting childcare providers’ attempts to use individual agreements rather than its multi-employer agreement as a condition to receive government funding for a 15 per cent wage rise starting from next week.
