Threat to customer safety cited in call to end sparkie work bans

Electricity distribution company Endeavour Energy has launched a bid to end six months of industrial action that has caused huge delays to major projects in NSW, including the state government’s Aerotropolis city centre and a major feeder road to the upcoming Western Sydney Airport.

Endeavour Energy will argue at the Fair Work Commission on Monday that the Electrical Trade Union’s bans on switching off power lines – key to installing electricity infrastructure – are threatening 1.2 million customers’ energy security and safety, including forcing those on life support at home to relocate to hospitals, or customers to rely on dirty diesel generators.
