HR Nicholls Society resurrected to combat Labor’s workplace laws

The Albanese government’s shake-up of industrial relations laws has sparked the re-emergence of right-wing think tank the HR Nicholls Society, with a former Liberal MP taking the helm of the long dormant organisation.

Former Victorian MP Louise Staley will seek to revive the free-market industrial relations society, founded in 1986 by members of the New Right including then barrister and later treasurer Peter Costello, in an attempt to support growing business opposition to Labor’s upcoming laws to regulate gig workers, labour hire and casual employment.
