High Court leaves CFMEU administrator with no more excuses

The failed High Court challenge to the CFMEU administration has opened a path to take strong action to clean out the union. But the administrator still has to walk it.

The High Court’s unanimous rejection of ousted CFMEU officials’ challenge to the legitimacy of the administration means there are no more excuses for the administrator.

In its first year, the CFMEU administration has been both decisive and timid. It has gone strong against removing some officials but been extraordinarily restrained for others. The message has been one of confusion.
