Dutton backs US-style racketeering laws to tackle CFMEU

The federal Coalition will introduce US-style organised crime powers if elected so that police can target group or union leaders engaged in criminal behaviour, as Peter Dutton seizes on the latest reports of CFMEU and bikie misconduct on government projects to get onto the political front foot.

The new revelations ramped up pressure on Labor, especially Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan, nine months after The Australian Financial Review and other Nine news outlets exposed widespread organised crime links in the construction industry.
