Burger chain burnt over pay rise amounting to 77¢ a week

Burger chain Grill’d has had its latest pay deal all but thrown out after the workplace umpire found it failed to explain to thousands of workers that the agreement froze and threatened to erode their penalty rates.

The Fair Work Commission last week ruled the burger chain’s proposed enterprise agreement covering 4300 workers across 149 outlets was not genuinely agreed after upholding a challenge by hospitality and retail unions.
