At the age of 14 , Mark Coulter’s life took an unexpected, and dramatic, turn. It was the mid-1990s and his father was running a financial services company. But it went bust.

“He made a lot of money and lost a lot of money during the ’90s,” recalls Coulter, co-founder and chief executive of online furniture retailer Temple & Webster.
