The government will not rule out making multi-employer bargaining compulsory, despite anxious employers leaving last week’s jobs summit believing such a scheme would be opt-in.
With negotiations to begin this week, so the government can prepare legislation by Christmas, Skills and Training Minister Brendan O’Connor said details such as compulsion and whether there could be industry-wide strike action would have to be thrashed out between stakeholders.
