Consumers to lose from push to break up supermarkets

Consumers would be among the biggest losers from any forced break-up of supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths, business leaders have warned, rejecting a Greens-led push for divestiture laws.
Greens spokesman Nick McKim said the party would push new legislation to enable the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to apply to the Federal Court to break up grocery retailers found to be misusing their market power.
