Why it’s time to stop hitting the snooze button on cybersecurity

It is probably safe to assume that the broader business world will always remain half asleep regarding cyber posture and to plan accordingly from a national security perspective.

It is bordering on cliche to suggest that the massive spotlight on cybersecurity resilience after data breaches at first Optus and then Medibank (with a few others such as Woolworths’ MyDeal, Vinomofo and Australian Clinical Labs thrown in for good measure) has been a wake-up call for corporate Australia to seriously sort out its data collection practices and systems protection.

However, for those of us who have covered cyber mishaps before this year, it is apparent that corporate Australia needs to get a bedside clock with a louder alarm, or at least stop hitting the snooze button.
