Health lab hacked, Medicare numbers posted on dark web

Australian Clinical Labs says the health records and credit card information of about 223,000 patients and staff in its Medlab Pathology business were stolen in a cyberattack in February and then posted on the dark web.

On Thursday morning, ACL said the breach affected customers mostly in NSW and Queensland, and included more than 17,500 individual medical and health records, more than 28,000 credit card numbers and individuals’ names, and more than 128,600 Medicare numbers.
