Stage three tax cuts to be eliminated by bracket creep: PBO

The benefits of the stage three tax cuts will be gone by the end of the decade as bracket creep drives personal taxes to a record, with the federal government forced to slug workers as other revenue sources dry up, the independent budget watchdog has warned.

The Parliamentary Budget Office on Thursday warned the federal budget will become increasingly reliant on bracket creep as spending pressures like the National Disability Insurance Scheme mount, and other taxes like the fuel and tobacco excises disappear.
